Oliver Clark appeared as head of household in the census enumerated September 4, 1850 at Chatham County, NC. Information was found on Page 374B, Reel 432-624, Upper Regiment, Dwelling 350, Family 351. Oliver was shown at age 25 as a married white male born in North Carolina. He was listed as a farmer with real estate valued at $250. Elizabeth was shown at age 21 as a married white female born in North Carolina, wife of Oliver. Their son, William T. was listed at 3 months old. Also in the household was a male mulatto, William Ray (age 11) born in North Carolina. He died on January 28, 1892 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 67.

Andrew Jackson 'Donnie' Clark was born on March 23, 1856 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of Oliver Clark and Elizabeth Pryor Perry. Andrew Jackson 'Donnie' Clark married Eunice Ellen Harris, daughter of Alvis Harris and S. H. Harris. Andrew Jackson 'Donnie' Clark died on September 22, 1941 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 85.      Donnie lived in a house with a fire place big enough for an adult to stand upright in. Francis remembers going over to visit and standing up as tall as she could in the fireplace. Frances also remembers that Donnie kept a washer with a wringer in a tub on a bench on the back porch. Donnie and Eunice are buried at South Fork. Annie Perry Clark is buried at Bethel UMC Church.

James Oliver 'Jim' Clark was born in 1874 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of Oliver Clark and Elizabeth Pryor Perry. James Oliver 'Jim' Clark died in 1952 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC.      Jim never married. He lived by himself after his mother died and ran a moonshine still behind his house. Had a married couple live with him for a while. The man helped run the moonshine business and the woman was a prostitute. Jim just sat back and took care of the money. Jim planned and paid for his own funeral before he died. Even picked out his own casket. After he died and was buried at Mt. Vernon UMC, a lot of rain fell and the ground was so wet the casked rose up and floated out of the grave.

Mary Cordelia Clark was born on January 23, 1866 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. She was the daughter of Oliver Clark and Elizabeth Pryor Perry. Mary Cordelia Clark married Isaac Columbus 'Lum' Thomas. Mary Cordelia Clark died on September 30, 1955 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 89.

Dolly Clark died on December 7, 1872 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 0. She was buried at Oliver Park homeplace, Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. [She is buried under a big tree. Three other infants of Oliver and Elizabeth were also buried there. This graveyard is unmarked but is still protected by the current owner, Frank Lindley. The graves are located near the road, beside a large boxwood bush. ].

Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson was born in May, 1872 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. She was the daughter of John Hezekiah Henderson and Winnie Ann Henderson. Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson married John Gilmore Clark, son of Oliver Clark and Elizabeth Pryor Perry. Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson died in 1957 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC.

Caroll played professional baseball with the St. Louis Candinals for nine years and played with the Philadelphia Phillies for three years. He broke his leg while with the Cardinals and retired. He ran a sporting goods store, Clark Sporting Goods in Fayetteville, North Carolina after retiring from baseball. Carroll and Rue were twins. Carroll Clark was born on August 6, 1904 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of John Gilmore Clark and Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson. Carroll Clark married Mildred ______.

Norman Hall Clark was born on January 22, 1911 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of John Gilmore Clark and Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson. Norman Hall Clark married Irene Allen. Norman Hall Clark died on January 3, 1979 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 67.      Norman attended Elon College. He carried mail for many years in the Snow Camp area. He may have been Post Master of Snow Camp.

Henry Grady Clark was born on December 29, 1893 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of John Gilmore Clark and Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson. Henry Grady Clark married Mozelle Teague. Henry Grady Clark died on January 9, 1964 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 70.      Grady lived with Jesse and Eva for a while and worked for Jesse in the hardware store. He was fired for stealing and moved back to Silk Hope.

Oliver Clark was born on April 5, 1892 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of John Gilmore Clark and Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson. Oliver Clark married Elsie Hadley. Oliver Clark died on March 28, 1955 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 62.      Engraved on Oliver's tombstone at South Fork: CPL 49 CO5 GP MG TNG CEN World War I. Oliver carried the mail and managed the post office in Snow Camp for many years following the war. When he retired, Norman took over.

Avis Clark was born in September, 1898. She was the daughter of John Gilmore Clark and Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson. Avis Clark married Jack Evans.

Rue Clark was born on August 6, 1904 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. She was the daughter of John Gilmore Clark and Frances Jane "Fannie" Henderson. Rue Clark died on July 21, 1906 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 1. She was buried at South Fork Friends Church Cemetery, Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC.      Rue and Carroll were twins. Annie Rue is named after her.

Annie Jean Clark was the daughter of Henry Grady Clark and Mozelle Teague. Annie Jean Clark married Edgar A. Lee.

Isaac Columbus 'Lum' Thomas died on March 7, 1943 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC, at age 83.      May be buried at Pleasant Hill Christian Church near Liberty.

Ralph Lee Lindley was born in 1925 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC. He was the son of Roy L. Lindley and Bessie Clark. Ralph Lee Lindley died in 1947 at Silk Hope, Chatham County, NC.      Ralph died when he was 22 years old. He was working on a buldozer on the family farm. He hooked the bulldozer up to a tree to pull the tree down - a dead limb in the tree fell, hit him on the head and killed him.

Pheobe Lindley was the daughter of Roy L. Lindley and Bessie Clark. Pheobe Lindley married Howard Moon.      Phoebe remembers going to Clark family gatherings at Christmas and always looking forward to Aunt Fanny's homemade chocolate and cocoanut candy. It was the best she ever had - Fanny was a great cook!
