Nancy Henderson was born on August 9, 1830 at NC. She was the daughter of Jackson Henderson. Nancy Henderson married Andrew Jackson Clark, son of Alexander Clark and Nancy Henderson, on December 16, 1844 at prob Chatham County, NC. Nancy Henderson appeared as head of household in the census enumerated July 23, 1850 at Chatham County, NC. Information was found on Page 356A, Reel 432-624, Upper Regiment, Dwelling 63, Family 64. Jackson was shown at age 26 as a married white male born in North Carolina. He was listed as a farmer with real estate valued at $100. Nancy was shown at age 19 as a married white female born in North Carolina. Their children were all born in North Carolina. Son, Alexander (age 3) and daughter, Cecilia (age 1). She died on September 29, 1879 at Randolph County, MO, at age 49. She was buried at Clifton Hill Cemetery, Clifton Hill, Randolph County, MO. The following obituary was published in The Huntsville Herald, Huntsville, Randolph County, MO, on October 16, 1879:      Nancy died at age 49. She is buried in Clifton Hill Cemetery, Randolph County MO along with her two daughters, Jula M. and Addie Clark Messick (her tombstone is recorded as Adaner Messex).      The Huntsville Herald; published Thursday Morining, 16 Oct 1879, by T.M. Alexander Clark. was born in June, 1847 at NC. [Born 1st or 11th - Dates from Clark family bible.] He was the son of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Alexander Clark died on April 8, 1865 at age 17. [Died possibly in Missouri at the age of 17 almost 18 yrs old. Need to check Civil War Records - he was of age - start with General Price of Missouri - Dates from Clark family bible.].

Cecelia Clark was born on February 15, 1849 at Chatham County, NC. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Cecelia Clark married William Jefferson Heflin, son of George Washington Heflin and Nancy Smith, on April 4, 1866 at Randolph County, MO.

John Clark was born on February 8, 1851 at NC.       Information from Robert B. Clifton of Seattle WA: from 'Notes Randomly Made from Newspaper Records at Central City - 8/1/10 . "Automobile in Park Coolbaugh; came by auto July 1, 1910. Bruce Clifton's relatives. Uncle John Clark of Denver ?? Dan Clifton who worked at the saw mill for years." So need to track John Clifton in Denver CO through census. Sept. 17, 1909 - "John Clark of Denver, an uncle of B Clifton, with Mr. Marsh of Nebraska is doing some work on the Clifton business block." Sheryl McNeely Shaw and Robert B. Clifton have copy of these notes. He was the son of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson.

Henry Clark was born on February 8, 1855 at NC.      Henry is listed on the 1880 Randolph County Clifton Township MO census with his father A J (listed as Andrew J) and Henry is single and 23 years (should be 25 years) working on farm and born in MO. Sheryl McNeely Shaw has copy of census. He was the son of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Henry Clark died in December, 1881 at age 26. [Date from the Clark family Bible in possession of Debbie Meyers Bell of Kerman CA.]. He was buried at MO. [buried in MO or TX].

Adaline 'Addie' Clark was born on January 30, 1857 at NC. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Adaline 'Addie' Clark married Martin Messick on May 18, 1873 at Randolph County, MO.       In the 1880 census she is living with her father (he is listed as 'Andrew J.' Clark in Randolph County MO, Clifton Township. Addie is divorced and 21 years old (should be 22 or 23.). There are two Messick children living with them listed as grandchildren to her father, A J Clark: Willard Messick - male, 4 years, grandson - 'at grandfather's' born in MO, father born in KY, and mother born in NC. Minnie Messick - female, 5 years, 'grandson' - 'at grandfather's house' born in MO, father born in KY, and mother born in NC. Sheryl McNeely Shaw has a copy of this census. From the Clark Bible - there are listings for several 'Messex' family members: BIRTHS - Alexandria (possibly Alexander) - born Feb 18 1874 - this child is not on the 1880 census with Addeline and her father and could be dead perhaps. Belle Messex b Nov 19 1875 - probably Minnie Belle as Minnie is listed on the 1880 census and is 5 years old. Willard Messex - Feb 14 1877 - is on the 1880 census with Addie and grandfather, A J Clark. Under DEATHS: in the Clark Bible is Eled Messex - Sept. (no day or year given) - Could be the 4th child of Martin and Addie born in 1878 or 1879? Or the father of Martin? Or a sibbling? Adaline 'Addie' Clark and Martin Messick were divorced. Adaline 'Addie' Clark died on November 17, 1880 at age 23. She was buried at Clifton Hill Cemetery. [Along with her mother, Nancy Clark, and sister Jula M. Clark. Addie's tombstone is recorded as "Adaner MESSEX, Jan 30, 1857 - Nov. 17, 1880".].

Minna B. 'Minnie' Clark was born on July 23, 1859 at MO.      Probably born in Salt Springs, Randolph County MO - called Minnie or Aunt Min - the B. may have stood for Beatrix? She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Minna B. 'Minnie' Clark married James B. Laird on December 10, 1885 at Wise County, TX.

Julia Clark was born on May 11, 1861 at MO. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Julia Clark died on September 26, 1869 at age 8. [Julia is buried along with her mother, Nancy Clark, and sister, Adaline Clark Messick in the Clifton Hill Cemetery, Clifton Hill, Randolph County Missouri.].

Eula Lee Clark was born on July 27, 1863 at MO. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Eula Lee Clark married William Simpson Crow on November 14, 1883 at Wise County, TX. Eula Lee Clark died on September 9, 1923 at Fresno County, CA, at age 60.      She died at the age of 60 years - about 3 years after arriving in California from the Sweetwater area of Texas - had the Clark family Bible - passed down to her granddaughter, Geraldine Poteau - now in possession of Geraldine's granddaughter, Debbie Myers Bell. The 10 acre ranch they bought in Kerman, California is still in the family. Sheryl McNeely Shaw has pictures and information on this branch of the family and a copy of the Clark family Bible info. She was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Fresno, Fresno County, CA.

Fannie J. Clark was born on June 3, 1868 at MO. She was the daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Fannie J. Clark married Tolman S. Cavins, son of John T. Cavins, on May 13, 1886 at Wise County, TX. Fannie J. Clark died in May, 1948 at age 79.

Daniel Clark was born on March 3, 1875. He was the son of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson. Daniel Clark died on September 24, 1910 at age 35. [probably Wise County, TX.].

William Simpson Crow was born on July 19, 1860 at Carnesville, GA. He married Eula Lee Clark, daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson, on November 14, 1883 at Wise County, TX. William Simpson Crow died at Fresno County, CA. He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Fresno, Fresno County, CA.

Alfred Jackson Crow was born on August 12, 1890 at Wise County, TX. He was the son of William Simpson Crow and Eula Lee Clark. Alfred Jackson Crow married Mary Lee Holt. Alfred Jackson Crow died in September, 1974 at Fresno County, CA, at age 84. He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, Fresno, Fresno County, CA.

Tolman S. Cavins was born on August 23, 1857.      [See A Collections of Memories: A History of Armstrong County, TX 1876-1965 by the Armstrong Historical Association copyright 1965 published by Pioneer Publications, pages 107-110. ]      Tolman owned the bank and the lumber yard in Claude, Texas. The First National Bank was chartered in 1904. He came to Claude in 1889.      Does the S. in his name stand for Sidney?      Tolman Cavins was the postmaster of Greenwood TX two times. [Need to get the exact dates.] The first one I [Sheryl] believe was after Cyrus W. Clifton who served a year or so starting in 1879.      From Larry Wm. Sumpter's email on 11-4-98: "Cavens, Tolman -- aged about 15y, son of John T. Cavens, on 18 Nov 1873 thrown from a wagon, driving the team, horses took fright & throwing him off on his head, he is out of danger"; The Huntsville Herald at Huntsville, MO 20 Nov 1873.      In the 1880 census of Wise County TX, Tolman Cavins, W M 25, is a boarder and single. His occupation is listed as a R______? Druggist, perhaps a relief druggist. He was born in MO. He is listed 230/230 with William Batdroff and his family and three other boarders. He was the son of John T. Cavins. Tolman S. Cavins married Fannie J. Clark, daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson, on May 13, 1886 at Wise County, TX. Tolman S. Cavins died on August 23, 1925 at age 68.

Edna Cavins was born on September 1, 1887.      Edna was probably born in Wise County, TX and probably died in Claude, Armstrong County, TX. She was the daughter of Tolman S. Cavins and Fannie J. Clark. Edna Cavins died in 1903.

Myrtle Cavins was born on December 22, 1890. She was the daughter of Tolman S. Cavins and Fannie J. Clark.      Myrtle married Bert Clay Wooldridge of Gainesville, TX in her family home in Claude, TX on 18 Apr 1911. Myrtle Cavins married Bert Clay Wooldridge, son of Jeremiah Clay Wooldridge and Margaret A. Jennings, on April 18, 1911 at Claude, Armstrong County, TX. Myrtle Cavins died in August, 1960 at age 69. She was buried at Claude, Armstrong County, TX.

Burl Cavins was born in September, 1892. He was the son of Tolman S. Cavins and Fannie J. Clark. Burl Cavins married Mattie B. Cline. Burl Cavins died in September, 1951.

Bert Clay Wooldridge was born at Petty, TX. He was the son of Jeremiah Clay Wooldridge and Margaret A. Jennings. Bert Clay Wooldridge married Myrtle Cavins, daughter of Tolman S. Cavins and Fannie J. Clark, on April 18, 1911 at Claude, Armstrong County, TX.      [See Armstrong History Book of 1876-1965, page 108-109. ] After living in Gainesville for two years and being associated with the J.C. Wooldridge Lumber Company, he moved to Claude to be associated with the First National Bank. His father-in-law, Tolman Cavins was in failing health and offered Bert the position of cashier. He succeeded to the presidency of the bank in 1925 when Tolman Cavins died. Bert was a Mason and a Trustee of the First Methodist Church of Claude.

Jeremiah Clay Wooldridge married Margaret A. Jennings.      Lived in Gainesville, TX and owned the J.C. Wooldridge Lumber Company.

Norval Douglas Gallagher Sr. was born on May 5, 1889 at Jefferson City, Butler County, Pennsylvannia. He married Psyche Mae 'Peggy' Donica on November 28, 1923 at Gorman, Eastland County, TX. Norval Douglas Gallagher Sr. died on November 8, 1950 at Cisco, Eastland County, TX, at age 61. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Cisco, Eastland County, TX.      See article in the Eastland County history book - Peggy Gallagher McNeely has a copy of the book and Sheryl McNeely Shaw has copies of the articles written by her, mother Peggy, and aunt Beryle Gallagher Cutting. Norval Douglas GALLAGHER, Sr. was a 32nd degree Mason.

Psyche Mae 'Peggy' Donica was born on July 11, 1901 at Aurora, Lawrence County, MO. She married Norval Douglas Gallagher Sr. on November 28, 1923 at Gorman, Eastland County, TX. Psyche Mae 'Peggy' Donica died in November, 1990 at Irving, Dallas County, TX, at age 89. She was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Cisco, Eastland County, TX.      See file on clippings and notes.

Martin Messick was born at KY. He married Adaline 'Addie' Clark, daughter of Andrew Jackson Clark and Nancy Henderson, on May 18, 1873 at Randolph County, MO. Martin Messick and Adaline 'Addie' Clark were divorced.      By 9 May 1880 the Randolph Co. MO census shows that they were divorced and Addie living with her father with her children. Note the Clark family Bible spells his last name 'Messex'. Wonder who got the children after Addie died. Need to research this. Need to look up a Willard Messick in the Social Security Death Benefits Records 1937-1993.

William Jefferson Heflin was born circa 1841 at Owen County, KY. He was the son of George Washington Heflin and Nancy Smith.       Source for info on W J Heflin and dates: Morgan Heflin. Sheryl McNeely Shaw has an affidavit from W J Heflin verifying the service of Merit Clifton in the Company K 3rd Missouri Regiment Infantry of the Civil War. W J also served in this unit with Merit Clifton and Merit's brothers, Minor and D B (Daniel Boone) Clifton. [Need to send for Civil War service records for these four men and check Missouri pension records for Minor and D B Clifton and W J Heflin.] Sheryl McNeely Shaw has copies of Merit and Anna Clark Clifton's (his widow) pension applications in Texas. Sheryl McNeely Shaw has a picture of the descendant of W J Heflin - Leland Heflin taken in 1940 in Leland's backyard in Temple, TX during bluebonnet season. 1870 Census Randolph County MO, Saltsprings township, (6th Aug. 1870) #278/274 Heflin, Wm. Jesse Booker Allred died on June 6, 1983 at Siler City, Chatham County, NC, at age 92.
