Carrie Lillie Sawyer was born on January 18, 1908 at Fayette County, AL. She was the daughter of William Bedford Sawyer and Margaret Isabel Hendon. Carrie Lillie Sawyer married Charles Spurgeon "Spud" Deavors, son of Hershell Deavors and Carrie McCaleb, on July 26, 1927 at Fayette County, AL.      Monica Rutledge interviewed Carrie and Spud in April of 1993. Carrie was 85 years old but remembered many things about the Sawyer family. She had done research for many years and knew how important it was to record these memories. She told a story about a picture taken when her family moved from North River Beat to Cleveland in January 1913. She said the photographer was waiting at the bottom of a hill and when the wagons came to the bottom of the hill he took the picture. She was in the wagon with her uncle John T. Sawyer and her mother, who was pregnant. They were in Uncle John's wagon because it had springs and was safer for her mother to travel. Carrie Lillie Sawyer died on March 29, 1995 at Fayette County, AL, at age 87.
