Lawrence Jordan McBay died on May 19, 1988 at Hope, Hempstead County, AR, at age 83. He was buried at Anderson Cemetery, Spring Hill, Hempstead County, AR. The following obituary was published in Hope Star, Hope, Hempstead County, AR,:      LAWRENCE MCBAY      Lawrence J. McBay, 83, died Thursday in a local hospital. He was a retired butcher, and a member of the Southside Baptist Church, having served as deacon. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy McBay; two sons, Aaron Wright of Ft. Worth, Jerry Wright of Topeka, Kan; three daughters, Jean Downs of Hope, Martha Burns of Bonner Springs, Kan., Frances Tinsley of Kansas City, Kan; two brothers, Ben McBay and Tommy McBay, both of Hope; one sister, Lillie Riney of Nashville; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herndon Funeral Home with the Rev. Elbert O'Steen officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery.

Eva Viola Nations was born on March 24, 1908 at Spring Hill, Hempstead County, AR. She married Lawrence Jordan McBay, son of William Jordan McBay and Cora Martha Garhart, on January 16, 1927 at Hempstead County, AR. [Book Y, Page 321]. Eva Viola Nations died on May 3, 1946 at Texarkana, Miller County, AR, at age 38. Tuberculosis. She was buried at Anderson Cemetery, Spring Hill, Hempstead County, AR. The following obituary was published in Texarkana Gazette, Texarkana, Bowie Coutny, TX,:      Our beloved sister in Christ, Mrs. Eva McBay, of Texarkana, Arkansas, was called to rest May 3, 1946. She was born March 24, 1908, and was converted in August, 1925. She later joined Sweet Liberty Missionary Baptist Church of near Fulton, Arkansas, where she faithfully served until her death. We feel that she is sleeping that peaceful sleep that comes to one and all, and someday round the throne we'll meet, when Christ the Savior calls. She leaves to mourn her going her husband, Brother Lawrence McBay, three daughters, Martha Lou, Emma Jean and Francis McBay; one brother, Eld. Lee Nations; three sisters, Mrs. Lillie Smith, Mrs. Rosa Smith, and Mrs. Cora McBay, all of Hope, Arkansas, and a host of relatives and friends. Her father went on before her many years, and her mother followed shortly after her. It is sad to lose our loved ones, who have been so kind and true. When they are gone forever we are all so sad and blue, But let us remember what the Savior said one time, to our Father up in heaven, 'Let thy will be done, not mine'. Martha Lou McBay was born on June 17, 1928 at Hope, Hempstead County, AR. She was the daughter of Lawrence Jordan McBay and Eva Viola Nations. Martha Lou McBay died on May 22, 2001 at Bonner Springs, Wyandotte County, KS, at age 72.

McBAY, 87, SUCCUMBS AT HIS HOME HERE      William J. McBay, aged 87, a resident of Hope for the past 30 years, died at his home at 214 S. Laurel Street, today. He had been ill only a few days. Mr. McBay moved to Hope from Howard County. He is survived by his wife, five sons: Fred of Fulton; Lawrence of Bonner Springs, Kansas; Ben, Cecil, and T. G. McBay of Hope; two daughters, Mrs. Wyatt Harris of Nashville; and Mrs. Luther Hill of Hope. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at Garrett Memorial Church by the Rev. Elbert O'Steen. Burial will be in Anderson Cemetery near Spring Hill. Arrangements are in charge of Oakcrest Chapel, Inc. He was buried at Anderson Cemetery, Spring Hill, Hempstead County, AR.

McBay, ages 88, dies at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Wyatt Harris of Nashville early Sunday morning. Mrs. McBay was a member of Garrett Memorial Baptist Church and had lived in Hope for many years before moving to Nashville two years ago to make her home with her daughter. Survivors include five sons, Fred of Texarkana; Cecil of Nashville; Lawrence of Bonner Springs, Kansas; Ben and T. G. McBay of Hope; two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Riney of Fort Worth, and Mrs. Wyatt Harris of Nashville; three sisters, Mrs. Hallie Thanes, Okmulgee, Okla., Mrs. Emma Backer of Bouie, Texas and Mrs. Alice Snook of Aberdeen, Washington. 34 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. Saturday at the Garrett Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Elbert O'Steen officiating. Burial by Oakcrest Funeral Home was in Anderson Cemetery.

Benjamin Bogard McBay married Joyce Marie Reid on November 25, 1931 at Hempstead County, AR. Benjamin Bogard McBay died on January 10, 1991 at Hempstead County, AR, at age 83. Cecil Roy McBay married Callie Fronia Henderson on March 6, 1921 at Pike County, AR. [Book F, Page 220]. Cecil Roy McBay died on December 31, 1982 at Hempstead County, AR, at age 82. He was buried at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Hempstead County, AR.

Riney on May 20, 1934. Lillie Maud McBay married Luther 'Pete' Hill on August 20, 1955. Lillie Maud McBay died on June 5, 1996 at age 81. She was buried at Bluff Springs Cemetery, Nashville, Howard County, AR. The following obituary was published in Nashville News, Nashville, Howard County, AR,:      Lillie McBay Riney, 81, of Greensboro, NC, died Wed., June 5, 1996, in a Greensboro nursing home. Mrs. Riney was born in 1914 near Dierks, AR, and was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and the Rebecca Lodge. Survivors include one son, David Hill of Greensboro; one brother, T. G. McBay of Hope, Ark; one grandson , Steve Hill of San Jose, Calif; one granddaughter, Tracy Dick of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Latimer Funeral Home Chapel in Nashville. Burial will be in Bluff Springs Cemetery.

Luther 'Pete' Hill died in 1947. He married Lillie Maud McBay, daughter of William Jordan McBay and Cora Martha Garhart, on August 20, 1955.
