Aaron Campbell was born March 15th 1775 and departed this life July 22nd

Nancy Owen Cloud Chastain Campbell made open profession of faith in the
Lord Jesus Christ by Baptism by Emersion, Sunday the 20th day of Dec. 1818
in the 33rd year of her age.
The above record was made and copied from the Family Bible in possession of
Daniel Cloud of Altona, Mo. in April 1918 by W.T. Cloud of Chickasha,
Oklahoma on one of his visits to the home of Daniel Cloud, his uncle. The
Bible was purchased in Philadelphia, Penn and dated 1809.

Surname: CYRUS, BRISCOE, MASON, BALL, CONNOR
Your Pike Co. AR bible record on Daniel CLOUD listed Charles Baxter CYRUS
and Henry CYRUS (married to Peggy CONNOR). These 2 CYRUS are my
ggg-grandfather and my gggg-grandfather. I was unaware of any connection
with the CLOUD family. Do you know if and/or how the CYRUS and CLOUD lines
are connected? Do you know anyone else researching this line of the
CYRUS? Have you any clue where Henry CYRUS might have come from, who his
parents/siblings were, or when and where he died? Thank you,

Surname: CLOUD
CLOUD, DANIEL WILLIAM (1814-1836). Daniel William Cloud, Alamo defender,
son of Daniel and Nancy (Owens) Cloud, was born in Logan County, Kentucky,
on February 20, 1814. He was a lawyer and, on his way to Texas, traveled
through Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana with Peter J. Bailey,
also a lawyer from Logan County. Both men enlisted in the Volunteer
Auxiliary Corps of Texas on January 14, 1836, at Nacogdoches, as did B.A.M.
Thomas, William Fauntleroy, and Joseph G. Washington, all of whom were also
from Logan County, Kentucky. With these four men, Micajah Autry, and two
others, Cloud traveled to San Antonio de Béxar and the Alamo. They arrived
after February 11 and became members of the Tennessee Mounted Volunteers,
commanded by William B. Harrison. Cloud died in the battle of the Alamo on
March 6, 1836.

volume entitled "The Texans" from the Time-Life series on The Old West.
Why did such a variety of men flow to Texas and end in the Alamo, where it
was obvious that serious fighting lay ahead? There were two dominant
motives, which a letter from a young Kentucky lawyer named Daniel Cloud
summed up nicely.
Cloud was 22. The legal fees were skimpy at home and he had set out with
another lawyer, Peter James Bailey, 24, to seek a livelier practice. At
each place they visited they were confounded "by the coldness of the
climate, and, the smallness of the docket." They turned southward and at
Nacogdoches they joined Crockett's troop. "Ever since Texas has unfurled
the banner of Freedom, and commenced a Warfare of liberty or death, our
hearts have been enlisted in her behalf ... If we succeed, the Country is
ours, it is immense in extent and fertile in its soil, and will amply
reward all our toil. If we fail, death in the cause of liberty and humanity
is not a cause for shuddering."
Cloud probably spoke for most of his fellows at the Alamo: they were imbued
with a genuine feeling for liberty inextricably linked with the conviction
that, if they succeeded, their fortunes would be assured in the new country
of Texas.
