Quanah, Texas. 3 June 1976. ... My great grandfather, Pleasant White, lived
at Nathan, Arkansas where it is said "they were the aristocratic couple of
our community. They owned just about everything in Nathan. They had the
finest home in our area, with beautiful furnishings including china,
silver, and art work." This from a small book by Mrs. Otto Lee Carter which
she wrote for her grandchildren ... My grandfather, Nathan Levi Jones,
lived at Nathan, Arkansas until he hitched his oxen to wagons and started
on the trip to Texas. He came by way of Stephenville, but after arriving
there heard of the beautiful fertile land lying in the Panhandle. They
arrived in the summer of 1886 in Quanah and planned to go into the
