Susan E. is not shown with James and Mary on the 1860 census. The fact that
Susan is 12 years old in 1870 seems to indicate that she was born before
James and Mary married while that is not an unusual occurance it begs the
question: Why wasn't Susan shown on the 1860 census? She would have been
about two year old then.

Nov. 24, 1977 ... my Father's sister was the oldest child born in 1885 and
gifted with the family memory ... She said her grandmother Brewer died
before she was born which computes because she (Mary Jane Stone Brewer) was
not on the 1880 census. She said her great-grandmother Stone (Mary Jane's
mother) lived to be in her 90's ... she spoke of an Uncle Oliver Stone, I
thought her memory off there, but found an Oliver Stone age 45 on the
Hopkins Co. (Texas) 1870 census, born in S.C. So there were Olivers on both
sides ... I wonder if James Calvert ever remarried. There was no wife
listed on the 1880 Hopkins Co., Tex. census, only his mother Zerelda E. age
68 and the children, all birthplaces, check ... Thera Bagley. Letter to
David Kelley.
