Dr. John E. Alford, physician and surgeon, successfully practicing in
Okolona, Arkansas, was born near Kirby, in Pike county, this state, May 22,
1871. His father, Dr. W.D. Alford, was born in Alabama and came to Arkansas
with his parents when a small boy. The grandfather, the Rev. Ewing Alford,

Wed. April 7, 1982
... I am sending a list of dates gathered from my grandfather Alford's
Bible (William David Alford) ... His mother was Nancy Orrick. I just have
our history in bits and pieces, but I know it is interesting to get
involved with it ... Several years ago I taught English for one year at
Kirby while waiting on my husband to get settled and I had a little student
whose name was Orrick. I didn't know then about my great grandmother. I
just wonder if she were from the same family line ...
