Probate Book 1 page 288. April 1859. R.H. Conway and J.D. Hancock as         
administrators of the estate of Thomas J. Conway deceased (present bond) for 
$14000 which bond was by the Court approved. Probate Book 1 page 300.        
Administrators pray for an order authorizing them to complete and perfect a  
verbal contract by Thomas J. Conway before his death with James M. Evans     
relative to the purchase of a tract of land from said Evans know as the      
"Lewis Brewer Land." The prayer of the petitioners is by the Court granted.  
Administrators also pray for an order to sell the personal property of said  
decedent which prayer is by the Court granted. Probate Book 1 page 468.      
January Term 1860. Petition for dower. James M. Evans in right of his wife   
Mary S. Evans late Mary S. Conway, Complainant, and the administrators as    
above (R.H. Conway and J.D. Hancock) and Joel D. Conway as guardian of       
Isadora Alice, Joel Henry, Lorina Sarah Elizabeth and George Dyer Conway and 
Mary Margaret Almedia and Lucinda Catherine Conway, the latter three named   
have no guardian. Wm. J. Kelley is appointed guardian ad litem and with the  
others named, made defendants, and they all appear and consent to said       
proceedings. Complainant came in the right of his wife by his attorney,      
presented his petition supported by his affidavit stating &c., that Thomas   
J. Conway died in February 1859 seized and possessed of the following lands  
in Pike County, (Arkansas) to wit: Northeast 1/4 (of) Section 13; Northeast  
1/4 (of the) Southeast 1/4 (of) Section 13; West fractional 1/2 (of the)     
Southeast 1/4 (of) Section 13 on the East side of the Little Missouri River, 
all in Township 8, Range 26, 245 acres. The West 1/2 (of the) Northwest      
fractional 1/4 (of) Section 18, Township 8, Range 25, 140.75 acres; also     
(the) West 1/2 (of the) Southwest 1/4 and Southeast 1/4 (of the) Southwest   
1/4 (of) Section 29, Township 8, Range 26; and 1 Town Lot in the Town of     
Murfreesboro, said County of Pike. That he left surviving him, his widow     
Mary S. Conway now said petitioner's wife, and the children above named, 7   
&c., and further praying the Court in behalf of and in the right of his      
said wife, that dower may be assigned to his said wife out of the said real  
estate of said deceased (and) to make said assignment out of the Homestead   
or lands immediately contiguous thereto. The Court grants the petitioner's   
prayer. Henry W. Carter, Henry H. Meredith, and Sterling Goodrum are         
appointed Commissioners to make said assignment, the same to be 1/3 in value 
and to include the dwelling house and homestead of decedent, and to report   
at (the) next term of this Court. Probate Book 1 page 491. April Term 1860.  
Commissioners report that they have assigned to Mary S. Evans late Mary S.   
Conway her dower interest or 1/3 in value of said Estate and that they       
selected 146.66 acres in the Northeast 1/4 (of) Section 13, Township 8,      
Range 26. Beginning on a stake 4 chains 32 links West of 1/2 mile corner in  
the east sectional line B.T. (an) Elm; (thence) 44 links North 63 degrees    
East; thence West 73 chains 24 2/3 links to a stake B.T. (a) Holly; 38       
chains North 76 degrees East; thence North 79 chains 32 links to a stake at  
(the) North boundary of the section B.T. (a) Holly; 1 chain 11 links South   
30 degrees East to a stake; thence East to a stake in the field 73 chains 24 
2/3 links in the North boundary of the section B.T. (an) Ash; 1 chain 25 1/2 
links South 78 degrees West; thence South to the beginning. The report is in 
all things confirmed by the Court. Date(d) May 4, 1860. Probate Book C page  
27. July 25, 1871. R.H. Conway was ordered by the Court to make a new bond,  
he failed to do so, and the Court revokes his Letters of Administration.
