____________________________________________________________________________ Abstract made by an unknown abstractor about 1890 from original records of Pike County, Arkansas and recorded in Abstract of Title Book Prior to 1890 ____________________________________________________________________________ Probate Book 1 page 162. January Term 1858. David Huddleston administrator of the Estate of Mariah Huddleston deceased in the matter of the sale of Real Estate this day exhibited and filed his petition and affidavit in this Court alleging that the said Mariah Huddleston deceased was seized and possessed in her own right at the time of her death of a certain real estate or tracts of land in Pike County, Arkansas and designated as the Southeast 1/4 (of the) Southeast 1/4 and the Southwest 1/4 (of the) Northeast 1/4 and the Northwest 1/4 (of the) Southeast 1/4 (of) Section 20, Township 8, Range 26 (West), 120 acres; and that the said real estate cannot under present circumstances be available to the estate; and that said estate in the opinion of your petitioner will be benefitted by a sale thereof because the price of public lands are so low &c., etc., as to prevent the renting of lands upon advantageous terms and that the money for which the land can be sold put at 10 per cent interest &c., Etc. Affidavit of Wm. Gilmer a citizen of Pike County, Arkansas a disinterested person, verifying the same facts set for in the petition and affidavit of said Administrator presented. The Court that the said David Huddleston administrator aforesaid proceed to sell and sell at the Court House door &c., etc., on the 22nd of February 1858 between the hours &c., all right, title, claim, interest and estate that the said Mariah Huddleston deceased at the time of her death had in and to the said real estate, viz: Southeast 1/4 (of the) Southeast 1/4 (and the) Southwest 1/4 (of the) Northeast 1/4 (and the) Northwest 1/4 (of the) Southeast 1/4 (of) Section 20, Township 8, Range 26, Pike County, Arkansas first giving 20 days public notice of the time &c., and that he sell the same on a credit of twelve months taking bond &c., at 10 percent interest from maturity until paid, and that he report his proceedings herein at the next term of this Court. Probate Book 1 page 175. April Term 1858. Came now said Administrator by his attorney and represents to the Court that in obedience to an order and decree of this Court he did sell the real estate belonging to said estate to Wilson D. Reed for $310; that he has in all things compl(ied) with said decree; report supported by affidavit of Administrator, and the same is ordered filed. Probate Book 1 page 221. October Term 1858.
