Thomas Jefferson Funderburk was born on April 15, 1851 at Rome, GA. He was the son of William L. Funderburk and Susan Long. Thomas Jefferson Funderburk married Martha Gossett on July 27, 1872 at Arkadelphia, Cullman County, AL. Thomas Jefferson Funderburk appeared as head of household in the census enumerated June 17, 1880 at Clark County, AR. Information was found on Page 390A, Sheet 21, ED 30, Amity Township, Dwelling, 188, Family 196.      He was listed as a head of household on the Hood County, TX census dated June 21, 1900. He was found in Precinct Number 2, Page 270, ED 93, Dwelling 277, Family 278; Thomas J. was shown at age 49 as a widowed white male born in April 1851 in Georgia. His parents were born in Georgia. His occupation was farmer. He owned his farm but had a mortgage on it. He could read and write and he spoke English. He was listed as Thomas J. Funderberk in the census. He married Mary Dickenson on January 3, 1902. Thomas Jefferson Funderburk died on March 30, 1905 at Lipan, Hood County, TX, at age 53.       Thomas Jefferson Funderburk, son of William Laney Funderburk and Susan Long, was born near Rome Georgia, and moved with his parents to DeKalb County, Alabama where he grew up. He married Martha Gossett, daughter of Ephraim Gossett on July 27, 1872. In the spring of 1880, Thomas J. his wife and their three children, joined a wagon train headed for Arkansas where they joined Thomas's two brothers Frank and John. Thomas was the preacher of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church, the Friendship Church, and several other small congregations for the next 9 years or so. Shortly after arriving in Arkansas John and Frank Funderburk were joined by other members of the family, including Mattie Annah, Bettie and their mother Susan Funderburk. Around 1888 Thomas took his family to Texas near the community of Brushy Creek, moving later to Erath County, and then in 1893 made his last move to a farm near Lipan, in Hood County, Texas. On January 3, 1902 he married Miss Mary L. Dickerson. He died before he was 54 years old.

Warren Funderburk married Maud Billingsly Adams circa 1910.

James Elmer Funderburk was born on January 11, 1894 at TX. He was the son of Thomas Jefferson Funderburk and Martha Gossett.      He was enumerated with Thomas Jefferson Funderburk on the Hood County, TX census dated June 21, 1900; James E. was shown at age 6 as a single white male, son of Thomas J., born in February 1894 in Texas. His parents were born in Georgia. James Elmer Funderburk married Allie Baldree on October 7, 1916.      James Elmer Funderburk was killed in a gun fight in Glode Arizona in 1927. It was over either a woman or a card game. Many years later, Wilfred and Betty Martin tried to find James Elmer's grave. They were unsuccessful. The old cemetery is overgrown, and floods have destroyed many of the graves. James Elmer Funderburk died in 1927 at Globe, AZ.
