(July 10, 1915) ... "my husband died April 22, 1898." Affidavit of John C.
Wilson (July 9, 1915) Pike County, Arkansas. J.C. Wilson states on oath
"that he is a resident of Pike County, Arkansas that he is Sixty-nine years
old and has resided in said county and state for the greater part of his
life; that on or about the first day of April 1864, he enlisted as a 
soldier in Company K, 5th Arkansas Cavalry, Confederate States Army and 
remained in said army until the close of the war, when he was honorably 
discharged and that he is now enrolled as a Confederate Pensioner of this 
state. Affiant further states that after the close of the Civil War he 
became well acquainted with the late R.P. Threlkeld ... that he knew him 
before and after his marriage to Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld, who now survives 
him and has not remarried and now living in the Town of Delight in Pike 
County, Arkansas. Affiant further states that after the said R.P. Threlkeld 
was married to Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld (whose maiden name was Mary C. 
Wilson) that they lived together as husband and wife for more than fifteen 
years within one half mile of affiant's home and was so living together at 
the time of the death of the said R.P Threlkeld on the 22nd day of April 
1898. Affiant states that he attended the bedside of the said R.P Threlkeld 
during his last illness and was present when he died ... Affiant further 
states that during his extended acquaintance with the said R.P Threlkeld he 
found him to be an honest, upright and Christian Gentleman and that he is 
as firmly convinced of his faithful service to the Confederate States as if

Wall (July 10, 1915) Pike County, Arkansas. S.B. Wall states on oath "that
he is a resident of Pike County, Arkansas; that he is Seventy-seven years 
of age and has resided in said county and state for the great part of his 
life ... affiant further states that after the war he became well 
acquainted with the late R.P. Threlkeld ... that he knew him before and 
after his marriage to Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld who now survives him and who 
resides in the Town of Delight in Pike County (Arkansas) which has been her 
home practically ever since the said R.P. Threlkeld's death; that he was 
present when the said R.P Threlkeld was married to Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld 
on the 12th day of August 1881, that he was their family physician during 
their entire married life and attended the said R.P. Threlkeld during his 
last illness and was present when he died on the 22nd day of April 1898, 
and that to his own knowledge the said Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld has not 
remarried since the death of the said R.P. Threlkeld ... Affiant further 
states that during his extended and intimate acquaintance with the said 
R.P. Threlkeld he found him to be honest and upright and of unquestionable 
integrity and that he is as firmly convinced of his faithful service to the 
Confederacy as if they had actually served together in said Confederate

M.K. Brock (July 10, 1915) Pike County, Arkansas. M.K. Brock states on oath 
"that he is 74 years of age that he is a resident of this state and has 
continually resided in this state for a period of more than sixty years, 
and that he has spent the most of his residence in Pike County. That on the 
1st day of July 1861 he enlisted in Company G, 4th Arkansas Infantry, 
Confederate States Army and that he remained in the service of said army 
until the close of the Civil War. Affiant further states that after the 
close of the Civil War he became well acquainted with the late R.P. 
Threlkeld ... that he knew him before and after his marriage to Mrs. Mary 
C. Threlkeld, who still survives him and now resides in the town of Delight 
in Pike County where she has resided to the knowledge of the affiant the 
greater part of the time since the death of her husband, the said R.P. 
Threlkeld. The said Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld's maiden name was Miss Mary C. 
Wilson and she has not remarried since the death of her husband. Affiant 
further states that for more than fifteen years just prior to his death the 
said R.P. Threlkeld and Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld lived together as husband 
and wife in the same community as this affiant, and that the said R.P. 
Threlkeld was regarded as a man of unquestionable integrity; that during 
his acquaintance with the said R.P. Threlkeld, he has many times talked 
with him concerning his service in the Confederate States Army, and while 
the affiant did not actually serve with the said R.P. Threlkeld, from the 
conversation had with him relative to his service he was firmly convinced 
that the said R.P. Threlkeld did serve in the Confederate Army and that he

applicant Mrs. Mary C. Threlkeld and have known her for more than fifteen

County, Arkansas, Murfreesboro, Arkansas (July 12, 1915): ... As further 
means of identification, I submit herewith three letters written by my 
husband to his former wife during his service in the Confederate Army, I 
can positively identify the handwriting as that of my husband; they were 
among his personal effects at the time of his death and inasmuch as they 
refer to his Company number and Colonel's name it would seem that these 
letters to some extent corroborate and link my husband's identity to the 
official record furnished by the Adjutant General, U.S.A. ... I also submit 
my original marriage license for your examination with the request I may 
substitute the same with a certified copy after your honorable body has
